After hours
Nights, weekends and overflow — when the calls actually arrive, and what they are worth compared with business-hours calls.
The honest figure for how much demand arrives outside business hours depends entirely on who counted and what they counted. A consumer study by Angi puts after-hours demand across residential services at 47%, with 58% of those calls emergency-related. Novacall AI, evaluating over 100,000 inbound calls across 14,200 small businesses, found after-hours volume reaching 52% — but that sample is businesses already shopping for call automation, which is not a neutral population. What both agree on is that the share is far higher than a business with a 9-to-5 rota assumes, and that the calls arriving at seven in the evening are not the same as the ones arriving at two in the morning. One needs booking. The other needs somebody woken. Grading them by how insistent the caller sounds gets it backwards.
