Missed call revenue calculator
What are the calls nobody answered actually costing your HVAC or plumbing company? Three sliders, your own numbers, the math shown in full. Nothing is sent, saved or emailed.
After hours, on a job, the second line, or it just rang out. Your call log has the real figure.
Your average ticket. Not your best month.
Be pessimistic. A low number here is a more useful number.
calls nobody answered × your average job × your own win rate
This is arithmetic on three numbers you typed — not a forecast, not a valuation, and not a promise of what anyone would recover. We don’t guarantee a number, and you should be suspicious of any calculator in this category that does.
How to get a number you can trust
Missed calls: don’t guess. Open your phone system’s call log — or just the missed-call list on the business cell — and count one normal week, then multiply by four. Count everything that didn’t reach a person: rang out, voicemail, after hours, busy line.
Average job value: take last month’s revenue and divide by the number of jobs. Resist the urge to use your biggest ticket.
Win rate: this is the share of those missed callers who would have booked if a person had answered. Nobody knows this number precisely — that’s why the slider starts at a deliberately modest 30%, and why dragging it down is more persuasive than dragging it up. If the monthly figure is still uncomfortable at 20%, the leak is real.
Why missed calls cost more in the trades
A missed call at an office job becomes an email. A missed call about a burst pipe becomes the next company on the list — the caller has water on the floor and no reason to wait for a callback. That’s the asymmetry this calculator puts a number on: in home services the call is the job, and the job is time-critical.
The fix isn’t working harder — you were on a job, that’s the point. It’s making sure the phone gets answered when you can’t. That can be a person, an answering service, or an AI receptionist that answers in seconds and books the job. Whichever you choose, the arithmetic above is the budget it has to beat.
Questions this page gets asked
How does the calculator work?
Missed calls × average job value × your win rate. That’s the whole formula — it’s printed under the result, and it runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent or saved.
What counts as a missed call?
Any call that didn’t reach a person: rang out, voicemail, after hours, busy line, everyone on a job. Your call log is the honest source.
What close rate should I use?
A pessimistic one — 20 to 30%. Some missed calls are spam or shoppers, and some call back. A low number produces an estimate you can defend in front of your accountant.
Is anything I enter saved?
No. There is no form on this page, no analytics event on the sliders, and nothing leaves your browser.
